Woolworths recommends face masks with increase in COVID-19 cases. NSW, QLD, ACT - It’s your turn to mask up.
With Victoria now declared in a “state of disaster,”entering into 6 weeks of stage 4 restrictions, NSW, ACT and parts of QLD are being strongly advised to wear masks when entering into public places.
A total of 21 cases were recorded in NSW over 24 hours on the 30th of July, making it clear that numbers are on the rise again.
Woolworths have announced that they are strongly encouraging customers to wear masks when entering into their stores - With CEO Brad Banducci saying: “The safety and wellbeing of our customers, teams and communities is our top priority.”
“Masks and face coverings are a highly visible symbol of the persistence of COVID-19. By encouraging and role modelling their use, it will further support the steps we need to collectively take to stop the spread of the virus and keep our team and customers safe.”
Even though masks are not mandatory yet, customers have been recommended to wear them to the following venues: Woolworths Supermarkets, Woolworths Metro Food Stores, BIG W, Dan Murphy’s, BWS and ALH Hotels.
All team members within these stores have been provided with masks to heavily promote safety.
This recommendation comes from the new COVID-19 clusters, total 94 cases, linking to several locations including the following: Thai Rock in Wetherill Park NSW, 57 with Casula's Crossroads Hotel NSW and 19 to Potts Point NSW.
Until a vaccine is found, we will be living with COVID-19. This means that we should ensure that we have the right measures in place that help to prevent the spread and protect the community, such as wearing a mask.
If the rest of Australia do not want to end up with the same restrictions as Victoria, they need to do their part.
